Born and raised in Tofino, Joel knows the Clayoquot Sound inside out. He has spent his whole life venturing further and further into the amazing West Coast outdoors and has acquired deep knowledge of marine biology, botany and historical information about the surrounding area.
Joel loves to share his passion and knowledge with his guests during his fishing trips. He knows the best spots for a wide variety of fishing experiences such as Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Tuna, and also various cod species or Dungeness Crab and B.C. Spot Prawns.
Joel has been a fishing guide since 2001 when he and his brother John used to run a 45 foot steel fishing vessel (the Saint George) up and down the British Columbia coastal waters. Together they became partners in a new fishing charter company in Tofino called Tonquin Fishing Charters still successfully operating to this day.
Beside his unique knowledge of the West Coast and Clayoquot Sound, Joel’s other passion in life is culinary art and fine dining. He worked with his good friend Chef Nick Nutting at the Wickaninnish Inn Relais and Chateaux Point Restaurant before Joel lent Nick a hand to open Wolf in the Fog voted Canada’s Best Restaurant by On Route Magazine (Air Canada). Their motto is…
• Petroleum Safety Training
